25+ Must Read Homeschool Blogs

I read a lot of blogs every day. I love blogs about books, parenting, decorating, even cooking or politics. But my absolute favorite blogs to read everyday, for tips and encouragement, are blogs primarily dedicated to homeschooling. (I say primarily because homeschool moms have a lot of interests and their blogs usually reflect some of those interests as well.)

Here, in no particular order, are my favorite sources for homeschool encouragement, ideas, and deep thoughts. In other words, my must read homeschool blogs:

General Homeschool Blogs and Resources

  • Simple Homeschool. Lots of contributors and they post on many different homeschool topics every week.
  • Homeschool Creations by Jolanthe. So many great printables and other (free!) resources.
  • Homeschool Share by a whole team of talented ladies. So many great book related resources. If you’re looking for a unit study or lapbook or just some ways to get more out of the books your family is already reading, check here first. (This site used to be mostly 5 in a Row resources but now it’s so much more.)
  • Melissa Wiley. A favorite author who also has a great blog. Her booklist posts are incredible.
  • Lea Ann Garfias. Exhortation and practical advice.
  • Tressays. A blog and twitter friend who shares every day life and encouragement to those of us not as far along the homeschool path. (She has graduated two children and her youngest is in high school.)
  • Why Homeschool. Home of the long-running Carnival of Homeschooling.
  • Growing Hands on Kids by Heather. Lots of great activities, with an emphasis on kids with sensory issues.
  • Preschoolers and Peace by Kendra and Michelle. Advice, tips, and many great resources. (Definitely not just for parents of preschoolers!)
  • See Jamie Blog by Jamie. Homeschooling posts, but also adoption, parenting, marriage, and real life in general.
  • Great Peace Academy by Renee. Homeschooling and other advice with a particular emphasis on homeschooling an only child.
  • Angellic Scalliwags. This Brit homeschool family does some amazing unit studies.
  • Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers. Reviews, advice, and a weekly round-up.
  • My Joy-Filled Life.  Homemaking, frugal living, homeschooling advice and more.
  • Education Possible. An education site with ideas for middle and high school.
  • Playful Learning. This education site is not just for homeschoolers. Bonus: big, gorgeous pictures.
  • The Crafty Classroom. Curriculum reviews, planning guides, freebies, printables, and more.

How I Follow My Favorite Homeschool Blogs

I have over 100 blogs I follow with Feedly – my reader of choice after the loss of my beloved Google Reader (part of me still hasn’t recovered from this. Sigh.). This doesn’t count the blogs that I check in with occasionally or the blogs that have gone dormant that I really hope will start up again some day. I hope this list has introduced you to some new-to-you favorites as well as reminded you of some old blog friends.

What are your favorite blogs and how do you keep up with them?
