Hope your 2018 is going well so far. Ours has been nice: a somewhat gentle entry back into regular routines. We've had a few minor illnesses to deal with but nothing unusual for this time of year.
So, on to the first links round-up of 2018!
Learning
- Why I Don't Add Anything New to Our Homeschool in January by Shawna Wingert at Simple Homeschool. I basically subscribe to this theory as well. January is for renewing routine and such, not for reinventing everything.
- If You Think You're Not Doing Enough, Write it Down by Purva Brown. Co-sign.
- Another recent post from Purva Brown that I adored: This Year, I Will Make More Mistakes.
Living
- This one caused some heated discussion: Decluttering and Simplifying Your Way to Hell by Joshua Gibbs at CiRCE. I had mixed thoughts on it.
- And then I read this: New Study Says Today's Families are Prisoners of Their Own Clutter by Beth Teitell at the Boston Globe. So, I think this is where I come down: the drive to simplify is not the problem. Asking if something brings you joy is not the problem. But the real problem is a soul problem and all the pretty containers in the world, or the most minimalist apartment you can imagine, don't solve the problem either.
- Preventing Spiritual Scurvy This Year: The Micronutrient Plan by Clint Archer. Even small steps are better than none.
- We Are the Light of the (Cyber) World: Let's Act Like It by Haley Bodine at CT. It needed to be said.
Loving
- Does Jeremiah 29:11 Apply to You? by Russell Moore at TGC. (Short answer: kind of.)
- File under "science is strange": Scientists Make Coldest Liquid Water Ever and It's Stranger Than They Imagined from Gizmodo.

A time sensitive deal I want all my homeschool friends to know about:
The price through 1/14 is just $15 and the digital bundle is just $20.
I love working with Melanie Wilson and recommend any of the resources she has.
If you're looking for more than a book and planner, I recommend Mystie's course:
