Mr. Spurgeon specifically addressed preachers in the following quote. But, I think the application can be wider than that, obviously:
Making your point more loudly does not necessarily make your argument better.
I will resist pointing out contemporary examples and let you make your own connections.

Why Don't Students Like School? by Daniel Willingham. This title does not adequately capture the contents of this book. How the mind works, what it actually means to think or learn something, and complicated aspects of human memory are all covered but it's not a long or difficult read. Highly recommended. (Also, I've already passed this book on to my husband and he adds his recommendation.)

In addition to the heavier books in my current stack, I also pulled a vintage mystery off my shelf: Pearls Before Swine by Margery Allingham. I just needed something lighter (if a murder mystery can be consider "light") in the rotation. (My paperback has a different cover, but I picked up a lot of vintage mysteries at a library sale and hadn't gotten around to reading through most of them.)
Also, if you're looking for mystery recommendations, have I got a post for you: Mystery Series to Binge Read.
Current Read Aloud
We're in the final chapters of Carry On, Mr. Bowditch. The soon to be 7 year old has declared this her favorite book, despite the sad things that happen in seemingly every chapter. (sorry for the spoilers)
Current Book to Review
Gospel Centered Mom by Brooke McGlothlin is supposed to be on its way to me.
