I've missed doing these link round-ups every week. I can't promise that I will do one every weekend, but I promise to continue collecting interesting links and sharing them when I can!
Learning
- The Exponential Growth of Classical Christian Education by Sarah Zylstra for The Gospel Coalition. This is not news to those of us in the homeschool community, but I'm glad the discussion is getting a broader audience.
- 4 Ways Society Needs to Change So Kids Don't Hate School by Laura Hanby Hudgens at The Federalist. Again, this isn't news to those of us already homeschooling. But we need to be talking about this. (And no, I don't exactly agree with all of her points or conclusions.)
- Jimmy Kimmel Accidentally Gives a Reality Based Lesson by Denny Burk at The Federalist. Burke makes one application to current events, but it's really deeper than that. What we're really discussing is whether there is such a thing as objective truth or not.
Living
- Friends Your Age are Not Enough by Jaquelle Crowe at Desiring God. This is important to remember, I think.
- How to Stop Whining and Learn to Love Being a Mother by Anna Mussmann at The Federalist. And all God's people said, Amen.
- 5 Things Your Teens Still Need From You by Angela Richter at The Better Mom. Parenting teens and pre-teens still feels like a Strange New World to me, even though our oldest is 15 now (and a pretty awesome teenager, if I do say so myself).
- Why You Can & CAN'T "Do All Things Through Him Who Strengthens" You: Rethinking Phil. 4:13 by George H. Guthrie. I thought this was a good explanation of one of the most misused passages in the Bible.
Loving
- The Micro-Preemie Dilemma by Courtney Reissig at CT. For many of us, this is more than an academic exercise. And if you've ever been in a NICU, for whatever reason, you know it changes your life. (See more about our NICU experience here: Life in the NICU.
- Where the Theology of Star Wars Breaks Down by Jay Sherer at Relevant. "The saga showcases elements of truth—truth about the human experience, the cosmos, the character of a hero, and the nature of life itself."
- The Movie That Doesn't Exist and the Redditors Who Think it Does by Amelia Tate at NewStatesman. The nature of culture and memory issues all in one fascinating story!
- The Best Underwater Photographs of 2016 by Maddie Stone at Gizmodo. Breathtaking!
- If you're looking for some new-to-you music don't miss this round-up at The Rabbit Room: Our Favorite Music of 2016.
