Don't tell the others on my list, but I think Robert McCloskey might be my favorite.
Our favorite title:
" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Make Way for Ducklings is just perfection. The story, the illustrations...I can't think of a single thing I would change about it.
A close second:
We've never had a hardcover copy of Blueberries for Sal and we've gone through three or four of the paperbacks. They're literally read to pieces. Our current copy is held together with scotch tape and hope.
Time to buy another copy, I guess!
Others by McCloskey:
Lentil. My mouth is puckering just thinking of that lemon.
" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">One Morning in Maine. We've never actually owned a copy of this. I'm always watching book sales for one, though.
Time of Wonder. Slightly wordier than some of his others. Still fascinating to children. (Especially those who haven't experienced the sea very often.)
Burt Dow, Deep-Water Man. Another one we don't currently own.
And if your child is ready to move into chapter books, don't miss Homer PriceandCenterburg Tales: More Adventures of Homer Price.
This year Robert McCloskey would have been 100 years old. What a life!

Ooo. I have never seen the title "Time of Wonder" before. I shall have to look for a copy! We love McCloskey also!
It's a lovely book. A bit longer (wordier) than some of his others.
