We've had another great week of school here. Monday is our first day back to co-op so we'll see how that affects our week. We have to be there 30 minutes earlier this year because our oldest daughter is taking a class with a lab. Let me just say that getting this crew to co-op on a Monday morning was hard enough last year. I have no idea how we're going to make it (with a new baby that we didn't have last year) 30 minutes earlier.
Anyway, on to the links!
Learning
- I Used to be the Prettiest Girl in the World by Kate Fridkis. Love this personal homeschooling story.
- Homeschooling Through Disruption: The Hardest Part of Melissa's Homeschool Year by Melissa Camara Wilkins for Simple Homeschool. I told you I love this series.
- Laid-Back Homeschooling: A Word of Encouragement for the Year Ahead by Janie at Redeemed Reader. I love her 10 guidelines.
Living
- Learning to Linger in a Spotify Age by Jimmy Needham at TGC. What if inconvenience is a gift? Love this.
- Save the Drama: Raising Girls Who Speak Truth by Jen Wilkin at CT. I have four daughters, from almost-5 to almost-14. You can bet I'm reading as much on this subject as I can.
- Christian Virtue in the Age of Authenticity by Kevin DeYoung. How do we balance these two factors?
- My Problem with Pretty, Popular Bloggers by Lea Ann Garfias. This is a great reminder.
- It's Not Easy Being Green from Living on a Dime. This is a fantastic call to reason and balance in an increasingly fraught discussion.
- 5 Subtle Lies Pop Culture Tells Us by Ryan Duncan at Crosswalk. The whole thing is great but I particularly appreciated #5.
Loving
- This is poignant: Zelda Williams' Message to Those Suffering from Depression.
- 5 Most Cringeworthy Problems with Buzzfeed's Viral "I'm Christian, But I'm Not" Video by Mollie Hemingway at The Federalist. My only question is how she limited herself to 5. The whole thing (and the resultant Twitter hashtagged posts) seemed cringeworthy to me.
- Christians Can't Ignore 'Fun Home' and Other Controversial Books by Karen Swallow Prior. As I've said before: I'd love to be Karen Swallow Prior when I grow up.
- Made me laugh: This Hipster Barbie Account Perfectly Mocks Every Annoying Person on Instagram. I'm not on Instagram but, since some folks have linked their Facebook and Instagram accounts, I have had a small taste of this. #blessed
- Also made me laugh: If Disney Princesses Were Moms. I'm Belle, of course. {wink}
