Hello, friends! Lots of good reads on the interwebs these days but not much time to share them, so let's get to it!
- Encyclopedia Brown and the Case of the Mysterious Author by Craig Pittman at Crime Reads. Fascinating look at this beloved series and author. (Yes, I wanted to BE Encyclopedia Brown when I was a kid. I read through our copies of World Book in preparation for this. Spoiler alert: I still haven't solved any crimes with my knowledge.)
- Millennials Tried to Kill the American Mall, But Gen Z Might Save It by Jordyn Holman. I have long suspected that the pendulum might swing back toward the mall from the luxury shopping centers. Repeatedly getting in and out of your car on a rainy day would eventually cause someone to say, "Hey, what if all these stores were under one roof?!" Of course, younger generations being what they are *cough* they would probably assume they invented the idea. (I kid, of course.) Anyway, I say, yes, please bring back at least a few shopping malls.
- Very helpful post: 3 Ways to Help Your Kids Handle Criticism by Kari Patterson at Simple Homeschool. Honestly, this is a life skill most of us could stand to work on, right?
- Can My Personality Change? by Mystie Winkler at Simply Convivial. You know I love a good personality post and Mystie always has great thoughts on this subject.
- Serious and not so serious answers to a common homeschool question: How Do I Know My Children are Learning? by Kara Fleck at Simple Homeschool.
- The Uses of Bonhoeffer by Philip Luke Jeffery at The Weekly Standard. This caught my eye because I recently reviewed this book too. See also: Let's Quit the Tug of War Over Dietrich Bonhoeffer's Legacy by Laura Fabrycky
- Learning more about history from unexpected sources: Declassified U2 Spy Plane Photos Expose Hidden Archaeological Sites from Gizmodo.
- Thoughts on community and belonging: Addressing the Inner Ring by Shige Clark at The Rabbit Room.
