A collection links that have caught my eye since the last time I shared links that caught my eye. {wink}
(Just a reminder: in the interest of actually getting a post finished – no easy feat these days – I’m not categorizing these links. They’re definitely a hodgepodge of humor, thought-provoking, and strange.)
- Birth Order May Not Shape Personality After All by Ben Guarino at The Washington Post. My take: I’ve always thought “birth order” may be as useful as Myers Briggs or the Enneagram. Possibly helpful, but not ultimately authoritative.
- The Helicopter Bunny by Elizabeth Hoey at McSweeneys. Made me laugh!
- Mercury, Not Venus, Is the Closest Planet to Earth from Gizmodo.
- Betty Ballantine, Who Helped Introduce Paperbacks, Dies at 99 from the New York Times.
- Girl, Get Some Footnotes: Rachel Hollis, Hustle, and Plagiarism Problems by Katelyn Beatty at CT. There are serious issues with this author’s work, not least of which is plagiarism (sadly).
- Fairy Tales Could Be Older Than You Ever Imagined by Erin Blakemore at Smithsonian.
- All the Lonely People by Scott Devor at Tabletalk.
- Twelve Rules for the Bookish Life by Doug Sikkema at Comment.
- Fascinating and thought-provoking and I’m still processing it: The Great Commission Christianity Keeps Blacks Away from Evangelicalism by Anthony Bradley at Fathom.
- Where Movies Get Their Vintage Electronics from Gizmodo. (I would have guessed my local thrift store – kidding!)
- Churches That Play Together Stay Together by Courtney Ellis at CT. Reiterates the importance of eating & playing together in family life, and also in a church family. (Even if some of these examples are a little out there.)
