What a busy season this is. Our two youngest daughters have their first Ballet performances today: two shows of the Nutcracker. Our co-op is finished until the end of January and that's just as well because we're going to need our Mondays to get all this STUFF done.

- Why Moms, Like College Students, Can't Handle Criticism by Bethany Mandel. Not sure I agree with this 100%, but it's thought-provoking.
- 10 Simple Ways to Celebrate Advent by Holly Scheer. We do not observe Advent as such, but we do like to take advantage of the opportunities of the season.
- Why Should I Clean My House? by Mystie Winkler at Simply Convivial. I'll admit: I would much rather organize than clean, but homemaking is more than organizing.
Loving
- Coin-Op Cuisine: When the Future Tasted Like a Five-Cent Slice of Pie from Collectors Weekly. Maybe it's because I'm fascinated by vintage / retro things but I've always been intrigued by automats. (And slightly sad that I never got to eat in one.)
- A Ferry Tale by Katrina Ryder. This is a great post with deep truth, but I also love it because we have a ferry near our house and we've had this misunderstanding with our daughters. ("Where IS the fairy, mom? You SAID there would be a fairy!")
- Mark Zuckerburg's Empty Letter to His Daughter by Nicole Russell. Here's a thought: if you want to lecture the entire world, just say so. No need to bring your newborn into it.
- What Christmas Carols Get Right (And Wrong) About the Star of Bethlehem by Colin Nicholl for Crossway. Sounds like an intriguing book with some interesting arguments.
- Philip and I just attended a Keith & Kristyn Getty concert so this caught my eye: Keith Getty Isn't Sick of Singing the Same Christmas Songs. If you have a chance to attend one of their Joy: An Irish Christmas concerts or see it on PBS, I highly recommend it.
- Made me smile: Couples with the biggest height differences found to have best relationships. My husband is nearly a foot taller than I am. Yes, I love that. And no, I don't think the effect is going to dissipate after 18 years of marriage. We've been married 16 year and a couple for 18 and it hasn't dissipated yet. (In other words: I am still crazy about that man.)
- Loved this: C.S. Lewis' Greatest Fiction: Convincing American Kids They Would Like Turkish Delight by Jess Zimmerman. Anything flavored with rosewater is a no-go for me.
